ALS Support Group for Families of PALS

Who:         Family members coping with a loved one affected by ALS
What:        A group formulated for the emotional support of family caregivers
When:       The 3rd Thursday of each month –  7-9 PM – next date- Thursday, June 20, 2013.
Where:       Faculty Lounge of the SBU School of Social Welfare, Level 2, Health Science Center
Why:           ALS impacts the entire family.  Family caregivers face unique needs from the patient. This group   provides a safe setting to encourage free exchange and exploration of  emotions without judgment or guilt.

Care For Life

Care for Life provides grants of up to $1500 to help ALS patients to pay for in-home respite care. This program will greatly assist families by easing the strain, which many face when dealing with ALS because of the lack of respite care from their health insurance provider. Continue reading
